# Setout Overview
# ABC ➡️ Always Be Clear
• Speak to the supervisor on site to find out exactly what they require.
• Anything placed for setout needs to be presented clearly. Handwriting on the pin/peg is clear and a clear cut/fill value is written.
• Check onto existing marks to make sure you match into existing setout
# Store all your stakeout points
Staked out points are records of the time and location of what we have placed in the field. In the case that these points are not stored and something was built incorrectly, ThinkSpatial could be liable for costs of repair and loss in production to the project. Storing the points is one method of reducing liability.
# Checkshots
GPS -> as you start check onto a ground control mark so that you can adjust the pole height to match and check that there are no horizontal datum issues.
Total Station -> when setting out if there are existing marks in the area check that your resection matches what was previously placed. If it does not potentially it could be a different design model or there could be a problem with the resection.
