# Field Survey Overview
The purpose of this document is to standardise the process of surveying and processing field survey data to ensure all information is collected correctly in the field and CAD files are consistent.
This walk through will cover codes and attributes which allow you to pick up data in a way that eliminates user-based errors.
ThinkSpatial utilize 2 specific feature code lists. FeatureSurvey for use when completing feature surveys and AsBuilt when completing construction setout and asbuilt.
The Feature survey codelist is based on the Vicroads Codelist and has specific attributes which defines the size of objects within the CAD file.
The codes are numeric for both codelists. The first 3 numbers assign the feature code and the last 2 designate the string number or in the case of 00 a point will be produced.
For example, Back of Kerb is 408. To string a kerb the code would be 40801, 40802 Parking Sign is 46500 will produce a point on the Parking Sign layer.
The Feature surveys and AsBuilt surveys will take place after the traverse has been completed.
